Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling 

(CPCAB Level 5)

This course is designed to deepen your self development and take you to the next level of professional practice.  You will understand how to make client referrals and work wihtin a mental health team. You will deepen the level at which you work with your clients and use your skills to create individual care plans that are adaptable, creative and incorporate the complexities of mental health issues. 

The course will help you to gain confidence in the application of:

  • Gestalt techniques
  • Body Process therapy
  • Working with Couples
  • Play Therapy
  • Working with sexual issues with clients
  • Working therapeutically in an outdoor setting

Successful completion of the course will help you to set up in private practice and/or become a senior counsellor within an agency setting.

The training takes place on one day per fortnight over one academic year

Entry Requirements

  • You will need to have completed a Level 4 Diploma in  Therapeutic Counselling
  • You will need to  have completed a minimum of 100 client hours and have a supporting supervision record
  • An interview with one or more of the course tutors may be required in some cases

  • This is a 120 hour course and requires 60 hours of client work.  In addition 10 hours of personal therapy are required during your training
